100 Color Palette Hex Codes for Designers

Picking colors is where good designs go to die. You open the color picker, nudge a slider for twenty minutes, and end up with something that looked better in your head. This list of 100 ready-made color palettes skips all of that — each one has four hex codes that already work together, organized by mood so you can match the feeling of your project in seconds.

It is built for web designers, slide makers, brand builders, and anyone who needs a color scheme that looks intentional without a design degree. Hex codes paste straight into CSS, Figma, Canva, Tailwind, or any design tool. The free download below has all 100 palettes in one file for your reference folder.

How the 100 palettes are organized

The palettes are grouped into ten mood families of ten: sunsets and warm tones, ocean and cool tones, forest greens, neon and electric, soft pastels, earth and neutrals, bold brand palettes, retro and vintage, dark and moody, and seasonal fun. When you know the vibe you want — calm, energetic, premium, playful — you can jump straight to the right group instead of scrolling all 100.

Each palette lists four hex codes in an order that usually reads from boldest to lightest, which maps neatly onto the classic 60-30-10 rule: 60% dominant color, 30% secondary, 10% accent. Every palette also includes at least one dark and one light tone, so you can build accessible text-and-background pairings from a single row. Tap any Copy button to grab a palette’s codes for your project.

How to use these palettes

  1. Pick a mood group that matches your project’s feeling — calm, energetic, premium, or playful.
  2. Hit Copy on a palette you like and paste the hex codes into your design tool, CSS, or a comment at the top of your stylesheet.
  3. Apply the 60-30-10 rule: the first color dominates, the middle two support, the boldest one is for buttons, links, and accents.
  4. Check contrast before you ship: body text needs at least 4.5:1 against its background. Pair each palette’s darkest color with its lightest for safe text.
  5. Save your three favorites per project in one place — consistent color use is what makes designs look professional.

Start with one palette per project and resist the urge to mix families. Constraint is what makes color look designed rather than decorated. The download below keeps all 100 at your fingertips.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use these palettes in commercial projects? Yes. Color combinations are not copyrightable, so every palette here is free for personal and commercial use — websites, logos, slides, merch, anything. No attribution needed, though we always appreciate a link back.

How many colors should I use in one design? Three to five is the sweet spot: one dominant color, one or two supporting colors, and one accent. Every palette below has four colors so you can drop the one you need least, or use the lightest as your background and the boldest as your accent.

How do I check that my colors have enough contrast? Paste your foreground and background hex codes into a free contrast checker and aim for at least 4.5:1 for body text (WCAG AA). Light text on the palettes’ lightest colors usually fails — pair light backgrounds with the darkest color in the same palette.
