    How it works

    1. Add your audio — drag in an MP3, WAV, M4A or any common audio file.
    2. Pick the ringtone length — 15, 30 or 40 seconds (iPhone’s maximum), or keep the full track; choose a bitrate too.
    3. Make Ringtone — the file is trimmed from the start and converted to M4R with AAC audio, right in your browser.

    Everyday uses

    • Personalize your iPhone — turn a favorite song chorus into your ringtone.
    • Custom alerts — make distinct ringtones for family, work and friends.
    • Creators — produce branded ringtones for fans from your own music.
    • No Mac needed for conversion — the M4R is built on any device with a browser.
    • Batch ideas — convert several clips and pick the winner later.

    Frequently asked questions

Why does my iPhone need M4R instead of MP3? iOS only lists .m4r files as ringtones. M4R is just AAC audio (like M4A) with a different extension that iOS recognizes as a ringtone.

How long can an iPhone ringtone be? 40 seconds maximum — longer files won’t appear in Settings → Sounds & Haptics → Ringtone. This tool caps presets at 40s for that reason.

How do I get the M4R onto my iPhone? Connect your iPhone to a computer, open the .m4r file in the Music app (macOS) or iTunes (Windows), sync, then select it under Settings → Sounds & Haptics → Ringtone.

Which part of the song becomes the ringtone? The trim starts from the beginning of the file. For a chorus in the middle, trim the audio first with an audio trimmer tool, then convert the clip here.
