Free EXIF Remover — Strip GPS & Camera Metadata from Photos
How it works
Photos quietly carry your location, camera and the exact time they were taken. This tool redraws your photo pixel-by-pixel into a brand-new file, so every trace of metadata — EXIF, GPS, XMP and camera details — is left behind. Your original stays untouched, and nothing is ever uploaded: the clean copy is made entirely in your browser.

Everyday uses
- Before posting photos publicly: remove the GPS trail from pictures taken at home, school or work.
- Selling items online: marketplace photos should not reveal where you live.
- Journalists and creators: protect sources by cleaning photos before publishing.
- Sharing kids’ photos: keep location and device details out of files that get forwarded around.
- Filling forms and applications: submit photos without extra personal data attached.
Frequently asked questions
Does this change how my photo looks? No. The pixels are copied exactly into the new file. At 92% JPG quality the copy is visually identical; choose PNG if you want a mathematically lossless copy (with a larger file size).
What exactly gets removed? Everything that is not pixels: EXIF (camera make/model, shutter settings, timestamps), GPS coordinates, XMP data, software tags and embedded thumbnails. The new file is built from scratch by your browser, so nothing hidden carries over.
Is my original photo safe? Yes — the tool never modifies or uploads your original. It creates a separate clean copy for you to download and share, and the whole process happens on your device.
